Pre Nup Agreements
If both parties consent, and obtain independent legal advice, you can contract out of the 50/50 sharing regime.
Once upon a time, the idea of entering into a "pre-nup" was considered to be offensive. You would be suprised to know how common pre-nups (also know as Section 21 agreements) are becoming. If couples are entering into a relationship later in life, or if one of the parties has received an inheritance, it is now generally accepted that it is reasonable for that person to want to ensure that those assets will be protected in the event of separation. We know that this can be difficult and awkward for couples and will handle a contracting out agreement as sensitively as possible. Please contact Mary, Frances or Marian for more information.
